BE ONE OF THE HELPERS!
When I was a boy and saw scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You’ll always find people who are helping.’
Our organization began with a humble yard sale to provide immediate funds to one family in need, neighbors helping their neighbors, and we have continued that tradition for more than 16 years. With that in mind, the Giving Circle of HOPE is taking this moment in time to think differently about how we give and we are taking urgent action to help the most vulnerable.
Inspired by Fred Rogers’ words, we launched Be One of the Helpers, to provide funds to nonprofits in crisis while still giving together to achieve more. This is similar to our collective giving event, Together We Give, and replaces our 2020 July-November grants cycle.
All members who contribute to our Be One of the Helpers campaign by July 3, regardless of the dollar amount, will have the opportunity to vote for one grantee in each of three categories. Voting ballots will be distributed on July 6 and members will be able to vote through July 20 with disbursements to the selected nonprofits in early August.
In order to maximize our impact we are focusing on two immediate areas of need--food and housing assistance--and also looking toward emerging needs. Our Be One of the Helpers grants will help three of these nonprofits continue to provide much needed services and programs to those most affected. All contributions will be equally divided.
